    Resident Teacher

Gen Kelsang Drolkyi is a senior teacher in the New Kadampa Tradition. She is a Buddhist nun who has taught internationally for over 30 years. Gen Drolkyi has been a dedicated, close disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for many years, receiving ordination from him in 1993. An inspiring teacher, she is loved for her clear and insightful teachings and her ability to communicate profound Dharma in an accessible, practical way.

  • What should I expect?

Our classes are relaxed, friendly and suitable for everyone. A typical class includes two guided meditations and a practical talk explaining how Buddhist wisdom can help us deal with everyday problems and enjoy a calmer, happier life.

  • What should I bring?

You don’t need to bring anything with you. Everything required for the class will be provided. You may wish to bring a notebook and pen if you like taking notes, but this is completely optional. Most importantly, just bring yourself and an open mind.

  • Do I need to wear special clothing?

Not at all. You can simply wear whatever you normally feel comfortable in. Meditation does not involve physical exercise or complicated postures, so there is no need to wear special clothing.

  • Do I have to sit on a meditation cushion?

Although we do provide meditation cushions on the floor, it is not necessary to use one. Most people prefer to sit on a chair, which is also perfectly suitable for meditation.

  • Do I have to be Buddhist to attend?

Not at all. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their background, beliefs or previous experience. Many people who attend our classes are not Buddhist, they simply want to learn how to meditate, find greater peace of mind and deal with life’s challenges in a more positive way. You can take away whatever you find helpful and apply it in your own life.

  • Still have questions?

If there is anything else you would like to know before your first visit, please feel free to get in touch. We’ll be happy to help and look forward to welcoming you.
